I'm questioning a lot of things about my photography lately. Since completing the workshop recently and despite it being really wonderful, I'm a bit lost. I feel the way I do things has been desconstructed and stripped back to it's bare bones. I am trying to make sense of it and find a way to build it again... but how do I want to rebuild it? Who do I want to take photographs of? What are the things that really speak to me? I want to 'connect' like I did when taking this portrait last December, somehow I've drifted from that path and want to go for a wander down it again. How do I keep myself from being influenced by other peoples work that I admire to find something... a style, a way to capture a moment... that is 'me' ? Maybe there are several kinds of 'me' and that is okay?

It is okay! Just start shooting and you'll soon be resting back where you're style began or has evolved to.. you've got so much to offer, enjoy finding yourself x x
ReplyDeleteHi Toni! I love reading your blog. There is so much emotion coming from your writing. I hope you will find what your are looking for. You know that I'm crazy about your photos:)
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. We look to others for inspiration and examples (as we start out) and then wonder if what we create is truly our own. I think Katie is right. We will find ourselves the further we go and the more we shoot. I love that portrait, btw.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post! I know exactly how you feel too. You got some great advice from the girls and I totally agree. Just give it time, you'll find yourself sooner than you think! BTW, I really like this shot, NICE conversion!
