A good witch

Today was 'come dressed as your favourite book character' day at Isabella's school. The night before saw us sorting  through her book collection  to choose a character. In her imagination she had pictured some grand costume looking exactly like one of the gazillion  Rainbow Fairies that there are but  in reality there was not a lot of options. This caused a major meltdown, oh the tears over not knowing what to be! She finally settled on going as the witch, as you can see from the  sticky taped cat to the mop handle fancy dress props are not my forte but she was happy enough  working that outfit at the parade!

Bedhead

1 hour after waking up. Bedhair - check. Sleep in corners of eyes - check. Dried up runny nose - check. Cuteness - double check. Ooohhh, love those little front teeth, I could seriously just smooch her little face all day long!

My babe

So... because I post about the important people in my life I thought it was about time I introduced you to my partner Trevor. Please excuse the greenish tinge to their skin reflected from the overhead trees that I do not know how to get rid of yet :) Here are some reasons why I love thee.
He's pretty cool - you know, one of those people who don't even  try to be, they just are. That's him. He's a listener, I know people listen but he actually hears, you know what I mean? He loves  music and introduces me to bands I otherwise would never  have heard of  and end up loving. He's got a  greenthumb, loves to potter around the garden, planting this, replanting that, pulling weeds here and there. He is domesticated (yep, how great is that?), he hangs and brings in the washing without ever being asked to  and cooks way better than I can. After spending all day with other people's kids (he's a teacher) he still comes home and gives ours 100%. He's a newspaper junkie, if I want to know what's going on in the world of current affairs I just ask him!
Sometimes I think he knows me better than I know myself, even though I hate to admit it! But that is a good thing. We're not perfect but we are learning our  lessons from each other...and that is good too.

a Maggie post

Maggie's favourite thing to do is go for a walk down our street. Anytime. Heck, we even went out this evening  when it was virtually dark! Her and I were all rugged up our PJ's and dressing gown (I have no shame and besides...it was dark!) doing the walk thing. She loves it so much. It all started way back when her daddy took her often as a baby as it was the only thing gaurenteed to settle her and it  has stuck. It's never boring, she searches high and low for the neighbourhood cats to pat, kiss and cuddle (luckily for her they are mostly obliging). Thank you Katie (who lives across from us)  for being okay with Maggie letting herself into your yard whenever she feels like it to stalk, oops I mean love your cats! She also likes to check everyone's  letterboxes and collects any newspapers/junkmail that are lying on the ground and hordes them back into our yard. No flower is left untouched along the way, she is compelled to pick every one she sees  from it's bush, except at number 28 where I've been protecting their lone gerbera from her picky little hands!
We  go to see 'Bella' - a Golden Retriever and then down a bit further to see the 'Mean Dog' - a Pigdog whose name we don't know  so this is what we call it (sorry doggie, you are probably very nice but I'm not gonna risk finding out). I take my camera along every now and again and these are some I shot over the weekend. xox

Ode to black & white film

For me, there is something captivating about images captured in B&W film. There is grain. There is an intensity about the subject. They are just more...soulful. This picture was taken tonight while she was watching 'The Adams Family Values'-  processed as an ode to black & white film days.

she dreams of pretty things and kombies

So, for the past week I have been revelling in processing  photos of  such  a  gorgeous subject. She is my dear friend Kristy. Truly,  she's such a natural beauty that I just had to post so many of her. And they are all my favourite! Don't hate her 'cos she's beautiful. She is every bit as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and is by far one of the sweetest, supportive and down right genuine people I know. We share a passion for  taking photos  and we had the best time shooting together over the  weekend these were taken. She encourages me and inspires me with her photography and her spirit and is the best damn blog commentor  I could ask for! So happy to be on this journey with you Kris  xox

* us  testing out the new chalkboard prop, snapped by her 7 year old, pretty good huh!

Miss I & Miss K in Byron Bay

Here they are, the last from that Byron afternoon! Please excuse the random colouring of photo's. Trying a few things out coupled with working on them a bit here and there over the course of a week gets you that =) . If you recognise the photogenic-ness of the little lady photographed here it's because she's big sis to the other photogenic little lady Miss E from past posts. They are the daughters of my lovely friend (and co-shooter of that afternoon :p) Kristy. Kristy had packed along some 'sweet' props in the way of lollipops and toffee apples for the girls, Isabella had been salivating over one of those toffee apples all day knowing she had to wait for later to get at it. Kristy took her girls away to find a spot as I did with Bel, snapped a few okayish ones of her before the toffee apple entered the scene! Big mistake to let her have it so early because once that baby was in her hands it was all over red rover for two reasons. One - her face became quickly covered in red stickiness and two- she was completely obsessed with it and only it. Which means she was no longer interested in any photo and left me thinking anyone would think she'd never eaten one of these before -have I deprived the poor child of toffee apples in her life? All was not lost though, I then joined in with Kris and her two bunnies. It was lots of fun and was interesting to shoot alongside someone whose work you admire, she took these ones of me here in my vintage buy floppy hat. You can see her gorgeous work here http://kristymccourt.blogspot.com/ and you'll also see proof of Isabella's love for her toffee apple that day! You'll get to meet Kristy soon, there's work in process of this pretty lady. xox

Bella & the bunnies

If you're reading this (I'm so very grateful that you are by the way) you will know that I'm in a blogging frenzy, posting pics from our Byron weekend away. So much to say about the great girls who spent it with me and so many beautiful ones to sort through of them,I just want to get them all on here for you to see like NOW! I'll just have to keep plugging away and post as I finish some. These ones here make me smile and take me straight back to that afternoon of fun and friendship. Makes my heart sing to remember. These were taken at the end when the sun was setting and we were drenched in this glorious golden light. The girls were in great moods, amazing really after having had a camera pointed at them for the past couple of hours. I love these girls and I love them together.

This last shot of Bel is special to me. I think it captures her essence ... her uninhibited free spirit.
